Jean Rene Lacoste had only two passions in his life: tennis and fashion. Rene gained popularity thanks to tennis, and entered the history of Lacoste - as the legendary designer of sportswear.
Repeatedly complaining about an uncomfortable sports shirt (it was long-sleeved and made of thick fabric), the French tennis player decided to get rid of this discomfort, and for the Open US championship, he specially made a cotton fabric shirt with three buttons with a turn-down collar and sleeve to the elbow. The T-shirt absorbed moisture well, dried quickly and did not deform - all that is needed for a perfect fit. After the appearance of Rene in a miracle T-shirt, other athletes began to copy his idea, so after a few years Lacoste created his own company for the production of tennis shirts.
The famous logo appeared in 1923.
